HBO has released the title for the final episode of Game of Thrones season 7. The episode is called ‘The Dragon and the Wolf’. It is pretty obvious that the ‘dragon’ refers to House Targaryen while the ‘wolf’ refers to House Stark. The title is also similar to the season 1 episode ‘The Wolf and the Lion’ and ‘The Lion and the Rose’ from season 4.
The ‘wolf’ in the title could be Jon Snow while the ‘dragon’ could be a reference to Daenerys. There have been hints that both characters have started to get attracted to each other and the season finale seems like the perfect episode for them to become a couple. If that happens, it’s definitely going to be controversial because Daenerys is Jon’s aunt and any intimacy between the two characters will surely result in some disapproval among the fans.
There is also a possibility of a flashback scene showing the marriage of Rhaegar Targaryen (dragon) and Lyanna Stark (wolf) which would confirm that Jon Snow is not a bastard. The show already dropped a hint of their marriage in the episode ‘Eastwatch’ when Gilly stumbles on a document which said that Rhaegar annulled his marriage to Elia Martell and married someone else in secret.
The Dragon and the Wolf will air Sunday, August 27th at 9 pm on HBO.
