Ratings for this season of Game of Thrones has been so outstanding that each episode of season 7 has received better ratings than the highest-rated episode of previous seasons. Last week, The Spoils of War became the highest ever rated episode of the show with 10.167 million viewers . The record only stood for a week because this week’s episode Eastwatch pulled in 10.72 million live viewers, thus becoming the most watched Game of Thrones episode of all time.
This is good news for HBO who is recovering from a huge cyberattack where hackers have claimed to have stolen about 1.5 terabytes of data and are threatening to release confidential information, if HBO doesn’t meet their demands ($6 Million). Knowing that ratings will remain strong, irrespective of the leaks, will hopefully give the network some bargaining power.
