Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones, talked to EW about that epic battle sequence in the fourth episode (The Spoils of War) of Game of Thrones season 7 and expressed sympathy for his character’s fellow soldiers who were burned alive by Drogon:

“Even though Daenerys is the hero and the Lannisters are the villains, being burned alive is not great. It’s a terrifying thing when this monster flamethrower comes along and incinerates thousands and thousands of men who are just doing their job.”

Coster-Waldau also spoke about that final scene where we see Jaime charging towards Daenerys and was almost burnt alive by Drogon, calling his character ‘an idiot’ for doing what he did:

“Jaime is such an idiot that he thinks for a second, ‘If I can do this, I can win the whole thing in a Hail Mary.’”
