In a first of its kind attempt, The Yekaterinburg Cement Factory (a Russian company) is creating a life size version of Winterfell, the seat of House Stark in Game of Thrones using its Industrial 3D Printer and is expected to be completed by the end of September, thanks to the Cement Printing Technology.
The technology just needs 3 workers to get this done. Out of the three, one is the computer programmer in charge of making sure that the machine which delivers a continuous sausage of liquid concrete to build up the layers that comprise the building’s walls.
Rinat Brilin, the factory boss, told Russian TV station Telekanal 360 why they selected Winterfell and not any other castle from Game of Thrones to exhibit their skills.
“Why this castle? First of all, it is, in my view, very beautiful. And it also demands the use of many new technologies to construct that simpler buildings don’t require.”
Brilin hopes that the finished Winterfell will serve 2 purposes. One, serve as an advertisement for Yekaterinburg Cement Company and secondly, serve as a tourist destination.
