michael-mcelhatton-tv-choice-awards-2016With the 2016 awards season underway, Game of Thrones has started adding to its already huge collection of awards by winning the TV Choice Award for “The Best International Show” handed out by TV Choice Magazine. “Best International Show” applies to shows of every genre, which means Game of Thrones beat heavyweights like “The Walking Dead” and “The Big Bang Theory”.

Michael McElhatton, who played Roose Bolton on Game of Thrones accepted the award on the show’s behalf. Let’s consider the TV Choice Awards as a prelude to The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards due on September 18th. With a whopping 23 nominations, this award gives Game of Thrones the right momentum before the Emmys.

Interestingly enough, Game of Thrones won The TV Choice Award in 2014 for Season 4, but lost out last year for Season 5. However, in the Emmys, Game of Thrones lost out in 2014 for Season 4 to Breaking Bad while winning it for Season 5 in 2015.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that Game of Thrones wins at the Emmys too.
