Pokémon Go allows players to catch’ em all and become real life Pokémon trainers as they can search for these pocket monsters in their neighbourhoods, thanks to augmented reality capabilities of the game. The popularity of the game has also fueled the possibilities of a similar Game of Thrones app, which can probably include virtual Westeros and characters from the hit HBO fantasy show.
Gamespot recently interviewed a Niantic developer, Archit Bhargava, who was part of the team that developed Pokémon Go and he hinted at the possibility of a similar Game of Thrones game in future:
“My personal fantasy is like a Game of Thrones game where Westeros is mapped out on Earth and you join House Stark or whatever.”
It might be one developer’s dream but a similar Game of Thrones app is definitely a possibility, considering the immense popularity of the show. Nintendo is also $14.5 billion more valuable, thanks to Pokémon Go and this shows that if properly developed, augmented reality based games are definitely winners. So, brace yourselves, you might find yourself chasing a dragon or a direwolf in your neighbourhood before too long.
