Game of Thrones received 23 nominations for the 2016 Emmys, including nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage also received nominations in Outstanding Supporting Actor (Drama) category while Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke and Lena Headey were shortlisted for the Outstanding Supporting Actress award.
Max von Sydow also received a nomination in the Outstanding Guest Actor category for his role as the Three-eyed Raven in season 6. Jack Bender (The Door) and Miguel Sapochnik (Battle of the Bastards) are in the running for Outstanding Direction. And finally, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss received a nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for episode 9- Battle of the Bastards.
Game of Thrones set an Emmy record last year with 12 wins and is once again expected to sweep the awards this year in the Drama category. 2016 Emmys will take place on September 18, at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
