ramsay battle of the bastardsIwan Rheon’s character Ramsay was the most hated man on Television last year when he raped Sansa Stark on their wedding night. The fan reaction was extremely intense but Rheon thinks that far worse things have happened on Game of Thrones and he fails to understand why some people and media outlets singled out that particular scene:

“I understand why the reaction’s there because people have watched this girl grow up and they love her. But at the same time there was such an intense backlash about it, and it isn’t the worst thing that’s happened on Game of Thrones. You know, burning a child… nobody seems to go mad about that.”

The Welsh actor admitted that he is happy, now that Sansa and Theon have escaped from Ramsay’s tortures:

“There were a lot of fans there watching. In that moment in episode one when Brienne finally rescues her, there was a big cheer and you felt the collective relief. I think it’s great for her to get that empowerment back. It’s great for Alfie [Allen] as well, who plays Theon to finally get out of the clutches of Ramsay, and it’s nice for him not to be tortured all the time.”

So how will Ramsay die on Game of Thrones? Rheon think if and when it happens, it better be epic:

“It would be a shame if he just fell down some stairs or something.”

The actor also hopes that people realize that he is ‘not a marauding psychopath’ and actually a very nice guy in real life. Rheon also reveals his inspiration behind the role of Ramsay:

“Initially Heath Ledger’s Joker. And then I kind of thought Dennis the Menace… it’s great to have that childlike glee in doing all these horrible things, and then Liam Gallagher’s attitude and walk. But you forget all that stuff after a while.”

He also seems to be getting a lot of offers for playing another psychopath but Rheon says he wants to avoid such roles now:

“I want to try and move away from bad guys because I really fear being typecast. Because Ramsay is the first role like that I’ve ever played and it’s a bit annoying it’s the one that everyone knows. I’d hate that it would just be that… I wouldn’t want to be an actor any more.”
