All aboard the hype train because if HBO podcaster Bill Simmons’ ‘sources’ are to believed, the upcoming episode of Game of Thrones (The Door) is an ‘all timer’. In this week’s podcast, Simmons teased:
“Sources say that apparently this week of ‘Game of Thrones’ is an ‘all-timer.'”
The episode is directed by TV veteran Jack Bender and is written by showrunners David Benioff & D.B. Weiss. Here’s the official synopsis:
“Tyrion seeks a strange ally. Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) learns a great deal. Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) goes on a mission. Arya (Maisie Williams) is given a chance to prove herself.”
** Possible Spoilers Ahead **
There’s a good chance Simmons’ ‘sources’ are right because the preview and images for the episode have indicated that we will learn about the origins of White Walkers and the Children of the Forest through Bran’s vision. This information is something that has puzzled even the hardocore fanatics of Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire because George R.R. Martin has been very secretive about it.
Season 6 teaser has already hinted that the Night’s King is able to intercept Bran’s vision because he is able to grab his hand. We have also covered a fan theory about the upcoming episode which suggests that there is more to the Children of the Forest than meets the eye and how the Night’s King is able to touch Bran in his vision. You can read about it here.
The second set of images from the episode also show Bran at Winterfell while the Three Eyed Raven looks the other way. Bran looks quite determined in the above image. Is he about to change the past? Or maybe we will see more of young Hodor, Ned, Lyanna and Benjen? There’s also a fan theory which tries to explain how Wylis became Hodor. Check it out here.
