Daenerys Targaryen just reminded us how badass she and her legendary history is when she not only managed to escape her captors but literally brought their house down with an epic fire-goddess moment, reminding her enemies that they better not trifle with the Mother of Dragons.
While it was assumed that she will manage to escape Vaes Dothrak at some point, fans predicted that Jorah and Daario will be the one to rescue her. But Game of Thrones reminded us that Mother of Dragons need no help as she single handedly liberated Vaes Dothrak from abusive Khals. Emilia Clarke describes her experience to EW:
“It’s so exciting, very tingly-making. Every season I get at least one spine-chilling moment. I just stand up and I go, ‘I’m hearing what you’re all saying, but funny thing, I’m going to kill you all. I forgot that I have an ace in my back pocket and now I win.”
Daenerys has shown that she’s fireproof in the past on multiple occasions and showrunner Dan Weiss says that with Jorah and Daario on her side, she felt more confident in using this ‘superpower’ to her advantage:
“That’s what’s most fun about this. You know from the first season that, as you say, it’s her ‘superpower,’ but this is not really that type of story. It’s almost like the revelation she had when Jorah and Daario come to the rescue. She’s like, ‘Wait, I can do something none of these people can do and now that these two people can help me, I can use that to my advantage.’ It’s a very simple solution, a plan where you can use three people to take out dozens in a very dramatic way by just lighting things on fire and standing there.”
“She realizes that this is the missing piece. The Dothraki are the missing piece of her crew – she’s seemingly indestructible having Dothraki on her side.”
