The World of ice and fire is so huge that even George R.R. Martin sometimes forgets minute details of the things he has done in the past. Thankfully he has Linda Antonsson and Elio García to turn to, the creators of – the go-to site for Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire fans, when they want to discuss their theories or just need some information from its wiki. Speaking to New York Post, the duo revealed that GRRM often calls them up when he needs clarification on setting details or continuity details:

“We never consult on a story level. Our role has always been about setting details, continuity details — not, ‘What am I going to do with the Sansa storyline. For example, when Martin was working on ‘A Feast for Crows’ the fourth book, he asked us if he had mentioned any families whose devices included seven-pointed stars . . . to make sure he didn’t have too many regular houses with that emblem.”

The Sweden based couple have also coauthored a book with Martin known as The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones. Unsurprisingly though, they are critical of the show especially after the events of season 5. Antonsson adds:

“I don’t have a huge amount of faith in the storylines they create independently. That scene when Jaime and Myrcella have their little heart-to-heart on the ship, I literally turned to Elio and said, ‘Well, now she’s going to die.’ And then she did. It was such a cliché. We [also] had major issues with how they got Sansa to Winterfell on the show. It involved Littlefinger being a complete idiot. [His] actions aren’t those of a master manipulator. They really botched it.”

The couple also revealed that George R.R. Martin wants to complete The Winds of Winter as soon as possible and ‘no one wants the book done more than’ the author himself, adding that they have also contributed to the forthcoming book, on Martin’s request. So how do these superfans, who have read the books countless times by now, think of how it will all end. Antonsson says:

“I think Daenerys is going to be around for a while, but I’m not sure she’ll make it through to the end. George is fairly big on sacrifice.”
