Alfie Allen, known for his portrayal of Theon Greyjoy/Reek on Game of Thrones has finally spoken on the topic of controversial rape scene which was featured in Season 5. The horrifying scene, which saw Ramsay Bolton raping Sansa Stark while forcing Theon to watch, was criticized by many and the 29-year old English actor recently told News Corp Australia that it was one of the worst days of his acting career:
“I don’t really want to talk about it all that much — but the Season 5 scene that was the wedding night between Ramsay and Sansa — was a horrible day to shoot. Sophie Turner is just such a mature, amazing lady that brings life and light on to the set in so many ways but it was a hard day. It really was a horrible day but Sophie really dealt with that issue very, very well.”
Allen also thinks that people unnecessarily made it a controversy and there are far worse things that have happened in the show (like burning of Shireen Baratheon) as well as in real life.
“To be honest I thought people made more of a furore over the Sansa scene. But how do you compare them — the burning of a child to what happened in that room with Ramsay and Sansa? I guess with that scene, it happens off camera and what you don’t see is always going to be more terrifying when you just leave it to the imagination… It’s kind of what civilisations are built on aren’t they. Blood, gore and violence. So if you can’t handle it on TV — then don’t watch the news.”
