A Character Dead In Game Of Thrones Will Probably Die The Same Way In Books

grrm confirms shireens death in booksIn the Game of Thrones Season 5 Blu-Rays, George R.R. Martin has revealed that a certain character who was killed off in the show is likely to die the same way in the future A Song of Ice and Fire books.

**Spoiler for book readers**

It turns out that Shireen Baratheon was always meant to be sacrificed to Lord of Light by Stannis Baratheon and Melisandre. Den of Geek, who have brilliantly summarized Season 5 Blu-rays in 2 pages, notes that it was always GRRM’s intention that Stannis will burn his daughter alive.

The scene also drew widespread criticism from fans and many accused Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss to be taking too much liberty with the source material. Well, it turns out it was GRRM who was to be blamed and not D&D, and unless the author have changed his mind, Shireen seems like a goner in the books too.

  1. I read the books long before the TV adaptation, the first few were unbelievably good. Unfortunately, quality declined resulting in the last one being a real chore. This is good news and saves me wasting my time reading any more. Never before have I experienced such an author’s attitude towards his readership
