With fans yet to overcome the shock of Jon Snow’s death, it is easy to forget about the numerous other storylines that also ended with cliffhangers, especially if the storyline is as uninteresting as the Dorne plot in the show.
Like most of the fans, we are still in denial about Jon Snow’s death and won’t give up hope on his resurrection, at least not until the end of season 6, despite the fact that his death has been confirmed to Mr. President, Barack Obama. However, actor DeObia Operei (Areo Hotah of Dorne) insists that there are far more pressing matters for us in season 6- particularly, the fate of Trystane Martell (Toby Sebastian).
In the Season 5 finale, Trystane was on board the ship to King’s Landing with her fiancé Myrcella Baratheon and her ‘funcle’ Jaime Lannister. But, Myrcella was poisoned by the Sand Snakes and died immediately after she revealed to Jaime Lannister that she knows that he is her father. Of course, viewers know who the murderers are but Trystane doesn’t which leaves him in a predicament and which is why Operie believes that this could very well be the biggest non-Jon Snow reveal of the new season:
“He is on the boat there with a poisoned Myrcella. What are they going to do with him? Are they going to kill him? Are they going to take him back to King’s Landing and kill him? What’s going to happen to him, and then how does that impact Dorne? Is there going to be war, because our boy’s on that boat sailing into danger? So for me, I think that’s a really great question.”
Myrcella’s death and as a matter of fact, the entire Dorne storyline was overshadowed by the events at Castle Black. Considering that the Dorne storyline was the weakest part of Season 5, D&D may try to freshen it up a bit by putting Trystane in the hot seat during the next season. Or they may abandon it altogether with Trystane absconding the ship overnight on a boat to nowhere (We miss Gendry!). What do you think? Let us know in comments.
